Color guard is a performing arts activity that combines the use of Flags, Sabers, Rifles, and other choreographed movements. It is typically performed within High Schools, Colleges, and Independent Performance Organizations during Halftime Shows, Parades, and Indoor Competitions.
The Honor Guard is also a part of Color Guard, it helps to improve military bearing and attention to detail, while experiencing total teamwork. Upon completion of initial training, each Honor Guard member will receive a new issue of service awards that can be used for ceremonial events.
(JLAB) is a nationally recognized academic competition created exclusively for JROTC students. Cadets who participate will test their knowledge and leadership skills through competing in a series of rounds against other JLAB teams. Once cadets complete this competition, they will be awarded an arc, cord, ribbon, and medal.
Juggernaut is a Sports Competition consisting of seven events: Basketball, Volleyball, Flicker Ball, Basketball, Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee, and a Team Relay Race. In this event Cadets will go against seven other schools from North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Marksmanship in JROTC is a sport and co-curricular activity that teaches cadets how to aim, control, and fire a rifle with accuracy to hit a distant target. With this being a high-level sport a Cadet have to take a test and pass with 100% accuracy. Once taken and completed with a 100% on the test the cadet then will be on the team as an official member.
The JROTC Raider program is a physically demanding extracurricular activity that involves athletic competitions and team building events. The program's goal is to challenge participants and develop their fitness and endurance. This physical fitness test requires a high score on your fitness test (given within the program). Once qualified the cadet will be allowed to go to Rader Camp. When going to the Rader Camp cadets will be staying overnight. The test consist of a 8 Mile Road march in under 2 hours, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Pull Ups, Basketball Throw and a 2 Mile Run. Once Qualified the cadets will earn there Rader Cord and Arc.
Winter camp is a fun event for Cadets to come all together for the day and be able to make connections, have fun, and enjoy time together. In this camp Cadets will get an opportunity to go out all together and be able to sled, cross country ski and have hot chocolate, and some warm snacks. This helps the Cadets form long lasting friendships and helps them learn how to work together.
Camp Grafton is a place where cadets will all go to do team building, physical training events, and learn more about what it is like to be in the military. This camp consists of Cadets doing belaying / Rappelling, Obstacle Courses with teams, and doing different types of simulators. This camp is also an overnight camp where Cadets get the opportunity to stay in a Military Barracks and eat Military Food. Cadets will fly in a Blackhawk Helicopter around Devils' Lake. Cadets will also get the opportunities to march together as a platoon and a Battalion.
JCLC is a week long Leadership Camp were cadets get hands on learning experiences, go through Physically Demanding Training, Obstacles, and learn certain Leadership Roles throughout the week. Some fun events that Cadets will do is Archery, High and Low Confidence Courses, and Water activities. When cadets complete this camp at the end of the week each Cadet will earn their JCLC Arc and Ribbon.
