Artur Bordalo is a 35 year old world-renowned artivist from Portugal who travels the world to construct giant animal sculptures from trash.
Excerpt from the exhibit plaque:
(Bordalo II) creates stunning 3-dimensional sculptures out of waste to remind us of our excessive and inconsiderate economic and social behaviours. Trash, the debris of our materialistic and over-consumeristic society, can be reduced, reused and recycled. One man's treasure is another man's treasure.

Excerpts from the ST article:
Using more than 600 kg of salvaged trash including car plates, portable loos and a water slide, the piece - the largest upcycled sculpture in Asia - launched Trash-sure, a nationwide campaign by UBS and real estate company Ho Bee Land to provoke conversations on sustainability using art. Staff of UBS, Ho Bee and Ad Planet - which brought him in - approached various organisations for some of the materials for the project, the rest was sourced from recycling company Greenway Environmental.
He works with a team of eight, several of whom he has known since his graffiti days. After deciding on a concept, they make a list of materials they need before procuring them from recycling centres, car workshops and waste management companies.
Like his other sculptures, his Sumatran tiger - installed near the Bayfront Plaza at Gardens By The Bay - represents a highly endangered species, numbering fewer than 400 in the wild.
To date, he has completed nearly 250 Big Trash animals, sculptures and murals, upcycling more than 115 tonnes of trash.
