It is my hope that this website helps advisers find resources that are beneficial to assist them in recruiting students for their journalism programs. I found myself as a young adviser wanting to grow my yearbook program, but not knowing what resources I would need to recruit students. My publisher (and many of the yearbook publishers) put information out to help with recruiting, but this was not fitting my needs and is not available to newspaper and broadcast advisers. I found myself searching Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. Pretty soon I had ideas saved everywhere and could not remember where I had found those resources and spent more time searching again. This was excruciatingly frustrating. I wanted to create a better way for advisers to find recruiting resources and to share their resources. My goal is that this website will be a place for advisers to find inspiration and to also share their resources and ideas.
I initially started this website as part of the Master’s Professional Project for the Master of Arts degree in Media and Journalism, Concentration in Journalism Education at Kent State University. If you'd like more background info, please read my Project Proposal and Final Project Report.
