Developer ("we", "us", or "our") built the Recip-ai app ("the App") as a Commercial and Freemium app. This service is provided by us and is intended for use "as is".
This Privacy Policy is used to inform users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our App. If you choose to use our App, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy.
The App is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect your personal contact information (such as name, email address, or phone number).

To use the core recipe generation features, the App requests camera permissions. The photos of your ingredients are securely processed via a Cloudflare proxy and routed directly to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) for analysis. We do not store, view, or retain photos of your food items on our servers or databases.
You can input your dietary preferences (e.g., Vegan, Keto) and allergy information. This data is stored locally on your device (via iOS UserDefaults and SwiftData repositories) and is only temporarily sent to the AI service (Google Gemini) to ensure the AI considers your dietary restrictions. We do not keep centralized logs of your specific health or dietary preferences.
To manage the "Free Tier" limits and actively prevent abuse, the App utilizes Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store, the secure on-device Keychain, and randomly generated unique Device IDs. This tracking solely counts your monthly quota usages. The App also utilizes Firebase App Check to cryptographically verify that requests are coming from a legitimate, unmodified version of the app. This does not associate your personal identity with the generated recipes.
If you choose to purchase an ongoing Pro subscription, our payment infrastructure is managed by a third-party service, RevenueCat. RevenueCat tracks your app purchase history and subscription status using an anonymous user identifier. We never have access to your credit card information or billing address, as the transactions are securely handled by the Apple App Store.
To actively monitor app functionality and stabilize the user experience, the App employs Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, alongside Apple’s native logging systems. These tools log non-fatal errors, app crashes, event statistics, and system states. This information is completely anonymized and cannot be used to trace or identify you personally. Its sole purpose is to help the Developer patch bugs and improve performance.
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service. The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information used to identify you according to their own Privacy Policies:
Apple (App Store, iCloud Sync, Keychain, MetricKit): For payments, on-device data syncing, and native crash reporting.
Firebase (Google): Used for Analytics, Crashlytics (bug tracking), and App Check (device verification).
RevenueCat: For securely managing user subscription status.
Cloudflare: Used as a secure proxy and worker platform to protect our infrastructure.
Google (Gemini API): Used exclusively for analyzing ingredient images and generating JSON recipes based on text prompts.
We want to inform our users that these third parties have access to your transient requests (such as image data for Google's AI or logging events for Firebase) specifically to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are strictly prohibited from utilizing the content mapping strictly back to your real identity. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party platforms and encourage you to review their specific policies.
We value your trust in providing whatever minimal data the App needs, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13, since we do not collect personal information at all.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
