Teaching

I teach linguistics as a science, by which I mean that I encourage students to think critically in order to develop falsifiable hypotheses about language. My classroom presentation style is influenced by storytelling and narrative techniques that encourage active listening and engagement.

In 2018 I began a Teaching Fellowship in Phonetics and Laboratory Phonology at the University of Edinburgh.

I served as a primary instructor at the University of Alberta from 2013-2017.

The video on the right is of a presentation I gave to high school students visiting the University of Alberta in 2017.
