I strongly believe that children are the most important factors for the future. My passion is to build on their knowledge and create solid educational foundation to further their learning abilities. I embrace the opportunity to be apart of that journey through teaching, modeling, and learning from my students. I will nurture a kind and compassionate environment in which they desire to be curious even after they leave the classroom.
I feel confident that classroom management is the biggest component to having a well-managed classroom. It will allow students to be fully engaged and leads to a productive learning environment. By incorporating students’ basic needs of love, fun, power, freedom and survival as Glasser spoke of. I believe my classroom will thrive in its ability to run smoothly. Understanding that discipline is not classroom management. I will implement discipline by using forms of behavior management to help students solve problems. I have a firm belief that classroom management should be planned, organized and most of all consistent. Beginning on the first day and each day until the end of the year. As a teacher I want to give my students direction, stability, and help them find a purpose in their lives. I want to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which students can learn, grow, and achieve their goals.
Instructional planning is essential for the classroom to be successful. I plan to implement instructional strategies, curriculum, resources and the data to address the diverse needs of the students in my classroom. I want to ensure I am prepared to meet the educational needs of each student that will walk through my door. Children learn in all different ways so, I want to encourage independent, hard workers to build on the basic needs of the students. Beginning this practice from the first day and continuing throughout the year. My goal is to think how this will help students in their future learning. I wholeheartedly believe in making sure students understand what is being taught before moving on to the next topic. My focus will always be on what is in the best interest of my students. My goal is to provide the best academic support daily.
I like for things to be organized in all aspects of my life. So much so that my own family understands this compulsion of mine and they love me for it. Therefore, I feel this will be a big part of my classroom management. Helping children at a young age learn that everything has a place, and we must put things back in their home when we are done using them. I feel this lesson is important in helping students understand the value of the things we use. The tables in my classroom will be in groups of four. My goal is to seat students based on their induvial needs. A class library is a must, and I cannot wait to share books with students! These books will be organized by genre to help students find just what they are looking for. In the corner you will find a soft rug, pillows, and cozy seating for my students to enjoy. When it comes to keeping my papers and files everything will be laminated and stored in warm color-coded binders. My students will observe how my area is kept organized and clean, and this will help to keep their tables organized. Importantly I want my classroom to be a calm environment that promotes my students’ independence and gives them a successful learning experience.
I will put rules and expectations in place from day one, which will be carried out throughout the entire school year. There are three rules that must be followed- respect people, respect property, respect learning. Expectations for my students will fit into one of these three rules. Helping students understand appropriate behavior is a key component to my classroom management. Classroom procedures will be made clear for our classroom, school areas, small group, whole group, seatwork or table work. When students become off task, a bell will go off to get the attention of students. When a problem or behavior arises, I will be able to identify the specific problem and find a solution for it. This could look like a student who needs to take a break or walk. I will do everything I can to find a solution that works to help the student overcome negative behavior. I believe that good behaviors should be rewarded, in the form of a treasure chest or point system. This will be used frequently during the week to reinforce great behaviors in our classroom. Personally, I feel this concept can be a great success in a classroom to encourage students to always try their best and not give up! We all have bad days and that is ok, it is our choice to turn that day around. I want to be creative in my thinking of how to set up and apply rules/expectations in my room. Students understanding this will make our school year much more enjoyable!
Parents and teachers together play a pivotal role in helping their child be successful in learning. I want to always be on the same page as parents and the needs their child may have. I will begin this by calling each of my students’ parents to introduce myself and tell them how excited I am to have their child in my class. I will be calling or sending messages through our classroom Dojo throughout the year of something their child is working hard on or has accomplished. On the occasion I must inform a parent of a bad incident I will still begin with something good. I want parents to trust me and know I am looking out for their child and want them only to succeed!
I am thrilled to be able to put these beliefs into practice in my own classroom. My passion to teach and help students flourish into something meaningful that goes beyond the classroom. My goal is to create an environment that helps produce an abundance of successful young children who will grow up and change our world! As a mother to three beautiful daughters, I want to see every child be the absolute best they can be.
