The demons speak formally, which has rubbed off onto the other wealthy classes.
The poor speak less properly, probably use less fancy language, more slang, more cursing.
English is the nationally recognized language, selected by the demons. Other languages are mixed into it in various regions. There are lots of language hybrids; remnants of the old world.
Depending on their beliefs, people may swear to the Angels, or the Devil. Example: "by Lucifer", "in the name of Lilith", "May the Angels help us", etc. These are instead of things like "Jesus" or "oh my God"Â
Demons have pushed the idea of them being the dominant species, and humans being lesser. Among demons, misogyny is also very prevalent given that the male demons have the dominant demon genes. There's also heteronormativity for the purpose of breeding.
Among humans, they don't care as much about the differences between the sexes, or about sexuality. Some do, but it's less common.
There is also a hierarchy among wealth/class. You're seen as 'better' if you have more money, and you're also expected to be more like the demons if you're wealthy.
These are common among the wealthy, especially during celebrations. It's a good way to show off your wealth, make new connections for business or marriage, and add positively to your reputation.
Giving gifts to those you wish to impress is common, even among poorer people. If you're wealthy, you can give extravagant gifts. If you're poor, it's more likely to be handmade.
It's especially common when it comes to wooing a partner, as well as their parents. Also, if you are invited to someone's home, party, etc, a small gift is customary. Gifts are also common if you want something from someone, such as a business or marriage agreement, or a favor.
Gifts are said to reflect the giver, as well as their view of the one whom they are bestowing it, so it's very important they do this well and put thought into it.
Among demons and the wealthy, marriages are often arranged for business deals, sometimes by the parents. Though marriages are done out of love sometimes as well.
A bachelor or bachelorette party takes place the night before the wedding. For the men, it includes a party to celebrate his last night of being a single man. It includes a party with his closest friends, drinking, and prostitutes that may just dance, or you may choose to do more with.
For the women, the night before is spent with her friends and family, saying goodbye.
The wedding itself is a grand affair, and a chance to show off your family's wealth with decorations, banquets, and wearing your finest clothes.
Wedding colors are red, orange, and yellow, symbolizing fire.
It is tradition for the father of the bride to walk her down the isle and give her away to her husband, as a sort of transfer of ownership.
The vows are exchanged before a Judge and include the condition that the bride will obey her husband. Rings made with precious metals and jewels will be exchanged, and the hands tied together with a cloth to symbolize the new union. The couple does not kiss.
After vows are exchanged, the couple and the guests attend an extravagant banquet, then they drink and dance the night away. The couple is to lead the beginning of the dancing.
On the night of the wedding, after all the festivities, the couple will go to their new dwelling. The groom will carry the bride over the threshold, and they will consummate their marriage.
The day following the wedding, the bride and groom's closest friends and family will come to the home and help them get all of their things moved in. They will also shower them with gifts and food, to help them get started with their new life.
The couple does not travel after the wedding, but they are expected to have sex every night for ten nights straight to try and make a baby as soon as possible.
These are seen as the base wedding rules/traditions, though variations are made depending on the couple's wealth, status, or where they're from. Sometimes, in different regions, other traditions are thrown in. Some are also taken out if the couple chooses.
When someone close to you dies, such as a family member, best friend, or a spouse, you go into mourning for one month, and wear black to signify their transition into nothingness, since there is no longer a Heaven or Hell. When a member of the Royal family dies, the whole Realm is expected to wear black for a month.
At funerals, the body of the dead person is burned. Everyone in attendance wears black, and is free to cry or speak about the one they lost.
After the funeral, everyone goes to the home of the deceased's family or spouse, and offer condolences and food.
