I have a Readynas 312 (Firmware: 6.10.4) which has been part of readycloud for about 5 yers, every now and then a user reports the Online - VPN disconected message and normaly I just remote in and reboot it to resolve.

ReadyCLOUD Sync is very similar to backup. The difference is that you select one of your shares ( excluding backup shares), click on the little horizontal bars on the right and select Sync Files. The ReadyCLOUD app creates a new folder on your computer at c:\user\username\readycloud\sharename and copies the files from the share to your computer. In addition, a favorite with the share name and (NAS Name) is created in your list of Favorites to provide quick access to your synced folders.

Netgear readycloud desktop app also has some advanced settings which should be used in certain circumstances only. If you need to open the advanced settings you need to follow some basic steps which are described below:

Thank you also for the reminder that I need to enable CIFS/SMB 1.0 in my windows 10 machine to access my files via file explorer. I had actually already done that, (and rebooted the computer to complete the installation of the files that the system then searched for and installed), but your kind provision of that winaero URL resulted in me spotting one slight difference between what it showed and what I had done. In that section of file explorer, when I clicked the '+' to expand the options, mine showed "SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal" as the first of three sub-options, and I had ticked it, as well as both of the other two. (See screenshot below). Whereas the winaero's version did not have that first option, and with only the 'Client' option ticked, not the 'Server' one. So I unticked the Automatic Removal option and and clicked OK, then rebooted again. With the My Shares Netgear window open in Chrome again, guess what, no change - No shares currently accessible. However, there is one more thing I can do - I have no idea whether it will work until I try it, which is I did leave that 'Client' option still ticked - so I guess I can try unticking, clicking OK and rebooting yet again. Will that do it do you think? I doesn't make sense to me, but Client was not ticked in winaero's version.

I believe your problem is the Windows File Explorer for SMB. Owlfiles works great with the remote desktop to share files via windows networking IE SMB/Samba. Supports any port for windows networking unlike file explorer. 2351a5e196
