Our resistance to oppressive structures and creation of beloved community across various divides have many fronts. An often unexplored and urgent front is the need to know our own histories and current context with the complex experiences we bring as people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. Our choice to embrace all our identities as Asian and/or Pacific Islander shapes our unique voice and allows us to draw from our foundations to build in the larger racial justice movement. We want to use the month of May to explore our various histories, struggles, and resilience that come from our communities and support organizations who are leading in similar ways.
Financial Impact
Could you read 10 pages a day? Could 20 of your friends and family sponsor you at 15 cents for every page you read? If you said, yes, that means you will have raised close to $1000 that will go directly to organizations who are shouldering the brunt of first responder, direct service and community support work.
And you're only one person. Could you imagine a community of readers who are doing the same thing? We could raise well over $100,000 in one month just by reading a book.
Educating communities
You can build more educated and empowered communities by exposing your sponsors new organizations and sharing what you learned by gifting your sponsors with a summary of what you read.

Here's a simple way to do this:
