Purpose of this site:
Developing strong language skills is a principal goal for all students. Reading is one facet of language which is extremely important for a successful life in our society. Some children need extra help in reading or language growth and some parents are looking for ways to help their children at home to be better communicators and readers. This page has been designed with these purposes in mind.
It is important to keep in mind, that every child learns at their unique pace.
About the author:
Kathleen Freund is a TESOL (teacher of English to speakers of other languages) for students in grades kindergarten through five, with a combined 14 years experience teaching and tutoring in reading and for all areas of English language ( reading, writing, speaking, and listening) for students who are English learners and/or in need of reading support. This site was created as part of a Master's level capstone project for a Masters of Education degree focusing on Literacy from the American College of Education. It is important to note that the supports presented in this work are for all students, not just English learners, as all children are learners of language.
