A reading writing fest for children by children
Empowering Children’s Voice and Choice
All presenters are children
Bloom Fest is honouring children writers and celebrating their work. This program is designed for children by children. The keynote speakers, panellists and moderators are all children.
Read Bloom Books believes that every person is a writer, and every writer deserves a safe environment in which to experiment, learn, and develop craft (Amherst philosophy)
Everyone has a strong, unique voice.
Everyone is born with a creative genius.
Writing is an art form that belongs to everyone, regardless of economic class or education level.
The teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer’s original voice or artistic self-esteem.

Keynote Speakers
Sansara Nagpal
Sansara Nagpal is a 12th grader, an aspiring English major, a writer, and the founder of Project PaperBound, a literacy initiative promoting readership through book donations and libraries. Her writing has been featured in The Indian Express, the Times of India & RobinAge Newspaper and she serves as the Pop Culture editor for her school’s newspaper. An accomplished musician, she blends her love for songwriting, piano, and singing to inspire others.
Myrah Thakkar
Myrah Thakkar is a Grade 8 student and is passionate about singing, performing arts, and writing, particularly poetry, fan fiction, and psychological fiction. Myrah thrives in intellectual pursuits such as Model United Nations and debates, where she hones her public speaking and leadership skills. Outside the classroom, she enjoys immersing herself in reading, exploring the world of fantasy, and practicing judo.
Moderators for the Event
Sahil Gurbuxani is a high school student at the American School of Bombay. He is a badminton enthusiast and represented India at the ISF World School Games this October. Sahil loves to spend his time with his friends, reading books and playing sports. He leads various service projects and is passionate about empowering other students.
Aanya Lopes, a student at Don Bosco International School, is an avid reader and writer with a passion for crafting imaginative stories. She has already achieved a significant milestone as a young author, with her book Isea: A Book About Discovering a New Galaxy available on Amazon.
For Aanya, reading serves as a cherished escape from reality, allowing her to immerse herself in different worlds and perspectives. While she doesn’t have a singular favorite book, she gravitates toward the adventure and mystery fiction genres. She finds nothing more thrilling than the suspense of a well-written story that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Discover how to add depth and engagement to your story, making it both captivating and meaningful. Learn how developing a well-rounded character can propel the plot forward. Explore the "why" behind a character's actions, by diving into their motivations.
Writers Workshop Leader
Aaleiya is a thoughtful student who thrives on creativity and analysis. With a passion for storytelling, she enjoys exploring characters with depth, and how their motivation and conflicts craft engaging narratives. This interest drives her to delve into books and film, with her favourite being the Hunger Games trilogy. Known for being empathetic and paying attention to detail, she hopes to one day create stories that resonate with a diverse audience.
Writers Workshop Leader
Alethia is a curious and versatile student who finds joy in both science and literature. Currently pursuing the IB Diploma Program with a focus on Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry at Higher Level, she combines analytical thinking with a creative spirit. Her love for poetry and science came together when she wrote about astronomy for a national science and poetry all-India contest and secured first place, earning recognition for her work on astronomy, showcasing her ability to bridge the worlds of logic and imagination.
A national-level judo player and former head girl of DBIS, Alethia approaches every challenge with determination and poise. Through this workshop, she hopes to inspire younger students to embrace curiosity, resilience, and the joy of learning.
Illustrators' Workshop: Neurographics
Neurographics is a unique art technique that combines drawing and mindfulness to promote relaxation and focus. It begins with drawing random lines, allowing the hand to move freely, followed by connecting intersections to form smooth shapes. Adding colors and patterns transforms the drawing into a beautiful piece of art. It’s a creative way to express feelings and calm your mind while making something amazing!
Illustrator's Workshop Leader
August Rajakumar is a 10th grader at the American School of Bombay with a passion for photography, sports, and cooking. Through photography, August captures the beauty of nature and people. When not behind the camera, August enjoys listening to music and spending time with friends. Having spent most of life in the U.S., living in India has provided an opportunity to connect with cultural roots and family.
Illustrator's Workshop Leader
Sulmaz is a 12th-grade student with a passion for art, music, and spending time with friends. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family or friends, often finding inspiration at the beach, one of her favorite places.
Sulmaz plans to pursue architecture at university, drawn to the creative freedom the field offers. As a third-culture kid, her identity significantly shapes her artistic perspective, influencing the themes and ideas behind her projects. This unique background allows her to explore diverse cultural narratives and express them visually through her work.

Join Nandini Nayar as she takes you on a creative journey! Discover her secret cache of ideas and see how she turns them into books that entertain children.
Nandini Nayar is the award-winning author of over 75 books for children of all ages. Her most recent publications include Big Cats, Wildlife Acts, The House of Bindia’s Dreams (Oxford UP, UK), and What Happened to Grandpa (Penguin, shortlisted for the Binod Kanoria Awards 2024). A Sailor Called Wet Paint, and Other Secret Stories from History was shortlisted for the 2024 AutHer Awards and received a Certificate of Excellence. Are There Bun Shops in the Jungles of India and Other Secret Stories from History won the Binod Kanoria Award for 2024. Her books have appeared from Tulika, DC, Pratham, CBT (, Hachette, Karadi and other publishers, with three of her books placed on the CBSE's list of recommended reading.
