By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Read Aloud AI Text to Voice, Read Aloud AI, or any related version of the app, collectively referred to as the “App,” you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, access, or use the App.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and JanoGroup LLC (“JanoGroup,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required by applicable local law.
If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the App.
The App provides tools for turning text-based content into spoken audio and for managing reading and listening workflows on a mobile device.
Depending on the version of the App, your device capabilities, subscription status, operating system support, region, permissions, and provider availability, the App may include features such as:
Text-to-speech playback for documents, books, articles, saved text, notes, or other supported content
Importing, saving, organizing, searching, editing, and managing reading content
Reading and listening tools, including playback controls, voice selection, speed adjustment, synced highlighting, sleep timers, and related reader features
Import or ingestion flows for files, plain text, web content, publicly available books, or other supported materials
Discovery features, including Project Gutenberg browsing or similar public-domain book integrations
Translation, transcription, summaries, structured notes, rewriting, or other AI-assisted features
Exporting, sharing, or converting supported content formats
Subscription-based access to premium voices, premium features, higher usage tiers, or other paid functionality
Ads or sponsored content in free access tiers
The App and all features are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, continued availability of any feature, continued support for any provider or integration, or that any generated audio, summary, translation, transcription, export, or other output will meet your expectations or requirements.
The App does not require a traditional user account to access core features. However, the App may use device-level, platform-level, or vendor-provided identifiers to validate purchases, subscriptions, entitlements, advertising settings, attribution, fraud prevention, or service access.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and for all activity conducted through the App on your device.
You are also responsible for all content you import, create, save, convert, summarize, translate, export, share, listen to, or otherwise process through the App, and for ensuring that your use of the App complies with applicable law and these Terms.
The App may offer both free and paid access levels.
Free access may include only a limited set of features. Paid access may unlock additional functionality, such as premium voices, advanced AI features, expanded export options, higher limits, ad-free access, or other premium features.
Access to both free and paid features may be limited based on factors such as feature type, input length, usage count, provider limits, device conditions, subscription status, platform rules, abuse-prevention controls, operational requirements, or other conditions.
To maintain service reliability, protect third-party services, manage infrastructure and provider costs, promote fair access, prevent fraud or abuse, and preserve product stability, we may apply reasonable usage limits, technical restrictions, rate limits, cooldowns, feature locks, fair use controls, truncation limits, or anti-abuse protections to any feature or access tier.
These controls may be based on factors including:
Feature type or workflow
Free or paid tier status
Input size, content length, output length, or number of uses
Device, platform, session, or entitlement status
Region, provider constraints, or operating system support
Suspected automation, fraud, misuse, scraping, or abusive behavior
Any references in the App, paywalls, marketing materials, purchase screens, or trial flows to terms such as “unlimited,” “premium,” “unrestricted,” or similar language are subject to reasonable technical, operational, fair use, legal, provider, and anti-abuse protections. Paid access does not guarantee infinite, uninterrupted, or unrestricted use.
We may change, suspend, enforce, or update usage limits, feature availability, feature names, subscription offerings, voice availability, third-party integrations, or access conditions at any time when reasonably necessary for operational, legal, security, provider, store, product, or business reasons. Where required by applicable law, we will provide notice of material changes.
If a limit or protection measure is triggered, you may need to wait before using a feature again, reduce usage, verify eligibility, or satisfy another applicable condition. An upgrade to another tier may be available in some cases, but is not guaranteed.
We may suspend or restrict access, without liability, if we reasonably believe that your usage is abusive, fraudulent, unauthorized, automated in an improper manner, threatens service stability, violates these Terms, or results in unusual or excessive consumption inconsistent with normal personal use.
You are solely responsible for all text, books, documents, articles, website content, notes, transcripts, prompts, metadata, file names, exports, and other content that you create, import, upload, paste, save, convert, export, or share using the App.
You represent and warrant that:
You have the legal right and permission to use, import, convert, reproduce, export, summarize, translate, transcribe, and share the content you use with the App.
You will comply with all applicable copyright, licensing, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, consumer protection, export, and other laws.
If your content includes copyrighted material, confidential information, personal information, or sensitive data, you have obtained any permissions or consents required by law.
You will not use the App in a manner that violates the rights of authors, publishers, website owners, content platforms, or other third parties.
You retain ownership of your original content. By using content with the App, you grant JanoGroup a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, transmit, reproduce, transform, and use that content solely as necessary to operate the App, fulfill your requests, validate entitlements, provide output, support provider workflows, prevent abuse, and maintain the service.
The App may allow you to import files, paste text, load web content, access public-domain books, or interact with other external sources. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the right to access and use that content in the way you choose.
Content made available through third-party websites, public repositories, external links, or public-domain catalogs is governed by the applicable rights, licenses, and terms for that source. Availability of such content through the App does not mean JanoGroup owns it or grants you any rights beyond those already provided by the underlying source.
The App may rely on Apple technologies, Google technologies, OpenAI services, or other supported providers for speech, transcription, summarization, translation, rewriting, or other AI-assisted features. Voices, output quality, timing, availability, and accuracy may vary.
Generated or automated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, truncated, unavailable, or inappropriate for your intended use. You are responsible for reviewing any audio output, summary, translation, transcription, or other generated result before relying on, distributing, or sharing it.
App output must not be relied on for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, employment, compliance, academic-integrity, or other high-risk purposes without independent verification.
The App may allow you to share or export content using platform sharing tools such as Messages, Mail, Files, AirDrop, copy and paste, or other supported share destinations on your device. Once content is shared outside the App, its handling is governed by the receiving app, service, platform, or recipient, not by JanoGroup.
You agree not to:
Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Use the App with content you do not have permission to use
Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, licensing, or contractual rights of others
Submit, export, generate, or distribute illegal, harmful, infringing, deceptive, abusive, defamatory, or malicious content
Scrape, harvest, or mass-process content in a way that violates third-party rights or terms
Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to access proprietary systems, service logic, or source code, except where prohibited by law
Bypass subscriptions, payment systems, feature gates, voice restrictions, input caps, entitlement checks, or security controls
Use bots, scripts, automation, scraping, instrumentation, or other unauthorized means to manipulate, access, or extract from the App or its services
Interfere with or disrupt the App, its infrastructure, or related provider services
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, authority, or rights
Use the App to distribute malware, spam, or malicious content
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms.
Payments for subscriptions or in-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store under Apple’s rules and policies. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled through your App Store account settings before the applicable renewal date.
We may use third-party services, such as RevenueCat, to validate subscription status, manage entitlements, support paywalls and trials, and handle subscription-related operations.
The App may also use third-party providers such as Google AdMob for advertising in free access tiers, as well as Apple services, Google services, OpenAI, Project Gutenberg endpoints, or other platform and provider frameworks for permissions, attribution, diagnostics, voice generation, AI processing, reading workflows, or related functionality.
Pricing, free-trial availability, subscription options, included features, paywall language, entitlement rules, voice tiers, provider-backed features, and access conditions may change over time in accordance with applicable law and App Store rules.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies unless otherwise required by law.
Subscription access remains subject to these Terms, including our fair use, technical, operational, provider, and anti-abuse protections. A subscription provides access to the paid tier we make available, but does not guarantee unlimited, uninterrupted, or unrestricted use beyond those protections.
To support subscriptions, attribution, fraud prevention, app monetization, provider integrations, and feature delivery, the App may communicate with third-party services and platform APIs, including Apple services, RevenueCat, Google AdMob, Google text-to-speech or related voice services, OpenAI, Project Gutenberg, and related SDKs or endpoints.
These integrations may use platform-level or device-level identifiers, attribution tokens, subscription status data, ad-related signals, content payloads, or provider-request metadata, as permitted by your device settings, platform rules, and applicable law.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms, policies, availability, and technical limitations. JanoGroup is not responsible for third-party service outages, policy changes, pricing changes, content changes, or provider decisions.
The App, including its software, code, interface, design, layout, branding, logos, text, graphics, animations, voice selection interfaces, and related intellectual property, is owned by JanoGroup LLC or its licensors.
Except for the limited rights expressly granted under these Terms, no ownership rights in the App are transferred to you.
We do not claim ownership of your original content, but we retain ownership of the App itself, its design, and any non-user-generated materials we provide.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JanoGroup and its affiliates, licensors, service providers, contractors, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including damages for loss of content, reading progress, exports, subscriptions, provider access, profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of the App.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of:
The amount you paid through the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, or
Ten U.S. dollars (US$10) if no payment was made
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless JanoGroup LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, partners, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:
Your content, imports, exports, prompts, summaries, translations, transcripts, generated output, or other materials used with the App
Your use or misuse of the App
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of applicable law
Your violation of any third-party rights, including copyright, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, licensing, or intellectual property rights
We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time.
We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after the updated Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer protection laws require otherwise.
