IMS Tom Kurtz Award and Lecture Fund 

Tom Kurtz was esteemed probabilist who made seminal contributions to stochastic reaction network theory. Sadly, he passed away in April 2025. There is an extensive IMS obituary here: https://imstat.org/2025/07/16/obituary-thomas-g-kurtz-1941-2025/.

To honour Tom's memory and his many contributions and influence on our field, including cofounding the Stochastic Networks Conferences, a named lecture has been established, supported by the IMS Tom Kurtz Award and Lecture Fund. The lecture will be featured at each Stochastic Networks Conference, beginning with the

meeting in 2028 in Hong Kong.

The fund will be used to pay for the travel expenses (and a plaque) for the Tom Kurtz lecturer.

It is hoped that the donations will be sufficient to establish the fund as an endowed fund. Initially the fund will be set up as spendable until the endowment level is reached. We are hopeful that the level of donations from the community will be sufficient to reach the endowment level.
