The Reaction Networks Subgroup of the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) was formed in 2025/26 after a successful petition signed by over 100 individuals. The Subgroup aims to foster collaboration among SMB members interested in the topic of reaction networks, advance both theoretical and applied research, and strengthen communication across the field.

The Reaction Networks Subgroup will hold its business meeting in Graz, during which we will elect new subgroup leadership for the two-year term. We are conducting this process in accordance with the SMB subgroup bylaws, which are available here.
The elections will include the following positions:
Chair
Vice Chair
Secretary/Treasurer
Members of the Scientific Advisory Board (up to 5)
If you are interested in serving in any of these positions, or if you know someone whom you believe would be an excellent candidate, please submit a nomination using the nomination form available here:

Please note that all nominees must consent to being nominated and agree to serve if elected. Nominees should also be members of both the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) and the Reaction Networks Subgroup. If a nominee is not currently a member of SMB and/or the RN Subgroup but is willing to join, this can be done easily through the SMB website by updating their user profile before the election. Once a nomination is made and the nominee confirms their willingness to serve and satisfies the eligibility requirements, the nomination is still subject to a formal approval by the current subgroup advisory board in accordance with the SMB subgroup bylaws. To allow sufficient time for review and preparation of election materials, we hope to complete the nomination process by July 1, 2026.
If you are already a member of the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB), you can join our subgroup by checking our name in "Additional Options" section of your membership profile.
If you are interested in our scientific activities, and want to stay involved, please consider joining the Google Group on Reaction Networks. Note that only those who are members of the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) will have voting rights.
