Rainbow Grammar

Introduction

So I just needed some colours for parts of speech, but it turns out there is a complete system for this and Rainbow Grammar is widely used in the UK to help students understand how the different parts of speech work.

So that's why these are the colours chosen for highlighting words in RDPT. If it doesn't know the colour then it will be put into grey.

What is Rainbow Grammar?

At the heart of Rainbow Grammar is a very simple idea – that colour can be used to expose the underlying structure of sentences, so that children can understand how they work, imitate their patterns and then apply those patterns to new contexts. Now, using colour to understand sentences is nothing new, but it is the unique way in which Rainbow Grammar does it that makes it so powerful.
