"Can Do statements" is a powerful tool to set goals for students especially for ELs. However, it is important to keep in mind that they are achieved over a period of time and not during a lesson or unit. Can-do statements are achieved when the student demonstrates these skills consistently. ACTFL provides a list of Can do Statement by proficiency levels.
