Rite of Election of Catechumens and of Calling the Candidates to Continuing Conversion will be held on February 21 and 22, 2026 - More details to follow. Your information needs to be submitted to the archdiocese no later than Dec. 26. Make sure Ms. Cathy has you down in her notebook.
Who is a Catechumen?
• A Catechumen is a person who has never been baptized.
• A Catechumen is preparing to receive all three Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
• They should be registered as a catechumen for the Rite of Election.
Who is a Candidate?
There are 2 main different types of Candidates.
1) The Non-Catholic Candidate is a person who was previously baptized, but was never Confirmed, and never received Holy Communion. This person typically was baptized as a Christian in another faith tradition (such as Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, or Episcopalian – or any other Christian denomination with valid baptism). This Candidate is preparing to make a Profession of Faith, to receive Confirmation, and Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil.
2) The Catholic Candidate is a person who was baptized in the Catholic Church as an infant, but never completed the Sacraments of Initiation, that is, was never Confirmed, and never received Holy Communion. This Catholic Candidate is preparing to receive Confirmation and Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil. They do not make a Profession of Faith as they are already Catholic by baptism in the Catholic Church.
Both No. 1 and No. 2 should be registered as Candidates for the Rite of Calling to Continuing Conversion.

Theology of the Body Basics
1. God created this world and you on purpose and out of love.
2. Human beings are made in God’s image and likeness, and originally (before the Fall), Man and Woman had “right relationship” with God, others, and self.
3. Human beings are made of soul and body (“you are your body”)
4. What you do with your body matters.
5. Jesus reveals the innermost secret of God: He is an eternal exchange of love (this means that your innermost identity is love as well).
6. The body has a language and we can either use that language for the purpose for which we were created (love) or we can tell lies with our bodies.
7. Jesus reveals and makes possible loving as God loves (through His self-offering in the life and on the Cross…and in the Eucharist and by giving us the Holy Spirit that can untwist what has been twisted by sin: restore the relationship with God, others, and ourselves.)
