Start your journey into discipleship @ St. Mary Magdalen
Sessions are in the Blue Room in Jubilee Hall after the 10:45am mass. Register online, print out and return the form to church, or email the form to smmrciateam@gmail.com. Or just come in :)
Are you an adult seeking Baptism? Are you baptized, but need to make your Confirmation and Holy Communion? (Do you need your sacraments to get married in the Catholic Church?)
Are you the parent of a child (8 years or older) or adolescent, seeking Baptism for him/her?
Do you have all your sacraments, but it's been a while since your last CCD class, and you want to drop in for additional formation?
If you are new to the faith, a convert, or a revert to the church of your baptism, the Catholic Church welcomes you!
The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (Previously known as Rite of Christian Initiation, RCIA) is a process meant to form adults and children of catechetical age seeking baptism into the fullness of the Christian life and to become disciples of Jesus, their teacher. This includes an initiation into the mystery of salvation, the practice of faith, hope, and love, and other virtues in a succession of liturgical rites.
The OCIA team at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church can't wait to meet you and help you in your journey to a deeper relationship with Christ and his Church. New sessions start in August, and culminate at the end of the Easter Season.

First Scrutiny of the Elect 3/23/25
What are the Scrutinies? On the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of Lent, the newly named “Elect” participate in three successive rites called “the Scrutinies.” These rites, with roots dating back to the early Church, take place during the Sunday Mass, each thematically linked to the Gospel reading for that Mass.
Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, March 9, 2025
The Church judges the catacheumen's state of readiness, and decides on their advancement toward the sacraments of initiation. Thus the Church makes its “election,” that is, the choice and admission of those who have the dispositions that make them fit to take part, at the next major celebration, in the sacraments.
This step is called election because the acceptance made by the Church is founded on the election by God, in whose name the Church acts. The step is also called the enrollment of names, because as a pledge of fidelity the candidates inscribe their names in the book that lists those who have been chosen for initiation.
