RCAF Rank Insignia today

The RCAF appears to be the only Commonwealth air force to use a standard and a narrow tape (braid) rank indicator (Lt - Flying Officer equivalent). Others use a single standard braid. The standard braid of an RCAF 2nd Lt equates to a narrow braid of an RAF, RAAF, or RNZAF Pilot Officer. This all came about in 1962 when the RCAF replaced Flight Cadet with Officer Cadet and allocated the narrow braid insignia to them.

Neither the RAF, RNZAF, nor the RAAF carry an WO2/MWO rank. Direct equivalents to our Master Corporal appointment can be found only in Bangladesh and Singapore

John Alexander Douglas McCurdy (August 2, 1886 – June 25, 1961) was a Canadian aviation pioneer and the 20th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia from 1947 to 1952

Air Marshal William Avery "Billy" Bishop, VC, CB, DSO & Bar, MC, DFC, ED (8 February 1894 – 11 September 1956) was a Canadian flying ace and Victoria Cross recipient of the First World War. He was officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace of the war. During the Second World War, Bishop was instrumental in setting up and promoting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

William George "Billy" Barker, VC, DSO & Bar, MC & Two Bars (3 November 1894 – 12 March 1930) was a Canadian First World War fighter ace and Victoria Cross recipient. He is the most decorated serviceman in the history of Canada.[1]

James Francis "Stocky" Edwards, CM, DFC & Bar, DFM, CD (born June 5, 1921 – ) was a Canadian fighter pilot during World War II. Edwards is Canada's highest scoring ace in the Western Desert Campaign. Wing Commander Edwards is a member of 888 (Komox) Wing.

Chris Austin Hadfield OC OOnt MSC CD (born 29 August 1959) is a retired Canadian astronaut who was the first Canadian to walk in space. An engineer and former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot, Hadfield has flown two space shuttle missions and served as commander of the International Space Station.
