Hogg Middle School is pleased to be able to offer beginning string instruction to students in every grade level! Orchestra classes meet during the school day and is a single blocked class. Instruction will be offered on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Instruction continues in the Intermediate and Chamber Orchestras as students advance on their instruments.

Learning to play an instrument and belonging to the school orchestra opens up a whole new world of friendship and fun. Students will be able to take advantage of several music performances throughout the year. Orchestra provides a great foundation for students in all aspects of life. In addition to music, students learn self-discipline, group coordination, problem-solving, goal-setting, self expression, memory skill, concentration, poise, enhanced physical coordination, high self-esteem, and the importance of teamwork-- skills in great demand in almost every aspect of life. Like all the arts, music has a profound effect on the academic success of students as well.

Students in the orchestra program at Hogg Middle School enjoy opportunities for field trips, social events, and a chance to compete in UIL competitions.
