Beginning orchestra students will learn the fundamentals of their instruments, playing together in an ensemble, and reading music. No experience is necessary. Beginner orchestra is open to all students 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. There are currently 4 beginner orchestra classes, occurring during R2,R3,R4, and W3 periods.
Intermediate Orchestra is comprised of students with prior string experience. Students in this ensemble will continue building upon the fundamentals of their instrument and expand on their knowledge of playing in an ensemble. Intermediate Orchestra students also have opportunities to compete in district events. Intermediate orchestra currently meets during class period W4.
Chamber Orchestra is comprised of advanced students with several years of prior string experience. Students in this ensemble will continue building upon the fundamentals of their instrument and expand on their knowledge of playing in an ensemble. Chamber Orchestra students also have opportunities to compete in district events and in the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest. Students must participate in an audition to be placed into the Chamber Orchestra. Chamber Orchestra currently meets during class period W2.
Students of any grade level with significant string instrument experience are invited to audition for placement into a performing ensemble. Please contact Mr. White-Telles for more information regarding this topic.
