About Raymond Mathiesen

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Literature. In that degree, I also obtained minors in Psychology, Modern History and Economics. I have completed a Graduate Diploma of Library Science as well, in which my studies included Management and Communications. Beyond that, I have also completed independent courses in Flower Essences, Massage and Reiki, and have studied, in my personal reading, Alternate Medicine.

I live in Australia. I have lived in Townsville and Brisbane (in the state of Queensland), and Armidale (in the state of New South Wales) in Australia. I am currently in Armidale, where I have been for 40 years. I have never travelled overseas, but would like to visit the United Kingdom.

I am 65 years old, and retired. I write non-fiction short books on herbs and spices used for health purposes. I also write Teen and Paranormal novels in my spare time.

As far as my reading, I am interested in any fiction depicting 'real life' because it makes me think about what I do and how I live.

I particularly like reading Teenage fiction as I am interested in the 'turning of age' experience.

I am also particularly intersted in perusing Gay literature: both 'turning of age' stories and those centered around adults.

As you can tell from my writing, of course, I also like Paramormal.

I have even been known to read both Horror and Thrillers.

For a complete change of perspective my little home library also has some science fiction and fantasy in it. I like those kinds of fiction because they help me escape from the hard rigors of life for a while, and also they encourage a little heroism in me (a trait I sadly lack).

For non-fiction I love serious psychology and also a little philosophy, Eastern religion and politics.

I like basically any music although I don't have a lot of time to listen these days.

For DVD viewing I watch Law & Order: SVU, House, Supernatural and Medium (my favorite).
