The more we know, the better we understand

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, starting at 12:00 p.m., an educational lecture for students entitled "The more we know, the better we understand" was held in the First School of Economics, with temporary headquarters at Avenija Marin Držića 14. The goal of this lecture was to increase the level of financial literacy among young people, and how important it is is evidenced by the Erasmus+ project, which is carried out under the coordination of our school, called "Raising youth generation throught financial literacy". The lecture brought together about 70 third- and fourth-grade students, and was held as part of the World and European Money Week, which takes place from March 18 to 24, 2024.

The lecture was excellently organized and moderated by Vanja Dominović from the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the teachers of the First School of Economics (Ana Galić, Tomislav Polić, Romana Rusek and Zorica Hrgovčić).

The lecture covered four topics that were excellently covered by the lecturer. The principal of the First School of Economics Nenad Travar and Vanja Dominović addressed the students in the introduction.

Banking and personal finance management: Denis Buhinjak and Marijana Marić Jakšić, Raiffeisenbank Austria d.d.

The role and importance of insurance: Tomislav Masnjak, Wiener osiguranje d.d.

Investment funds: Laura Keglović, Erste Asset Management d.o.o.

The importance of financial literacy for young people and the role of regulatory institutions: Ana Pisačić, CNB

At the end of the lecture, all students were rewarded with various gifts by the lecturer, and the lecturers were invited to join us during the "Digital finance" activity, which will be held during the next school year, organized by our school as part of the previously mentioned project.

A big thank you to all present and we hope to see you again soon at these and similar events.

Our project members about first mobility "Basic financial terms"

School: 1 EPAL Agriniou

Teachers: Theodora Simou, Aikaterini Touska

Students: Esmeralnta Antilai, Antigoni Apostolou

We, the teachers Theodora Simou and Aikaterini Touska, as well as our students Esmeralnta Antilai and Antigoni Apostolou, are so excited to have attended, together with our partners from Portugal, Croatia and Turkey the 1st “Raising Youth Generation Through Financial Literacy” (RaYGeTFil) Project Partnership Meeting which was held at Escola Profissional de Campanha in Porto, Portugal. During our visit there, students and teachers participated in activities related to Financial Literacy. The students working cooperatively in teams searched for information on the net and presented basic financial terms and concepts as well as financial institutions of their country. They had also created videos with prices of basic products being on sale in the city they live so as to develop skills having to do with money management. The Portuguese teachers were very hospitable and did their best to make our stay there pleasant and interesting. All in all, it was a unique experience for both teachers and students as they discovered new cultures, strengthened their language and intercultural skills and embraced the European values of respect and diversity.

And it goes without saying that such an experience not only deserves but also has to be shared.
