Understanding the EPDM Rubber Market in Q2 2026
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, commonly known as EPDM rubber, is a synthetic rubber widely used in industries that require flexibility, durability, and resistance to weather conditions. It performs well against moisture, heat, ozone, and outdoor exposure, making it suitable for many industrial and commercial applications.
EPDM rubber is commonly used in automotive weather seals, roofing membranes, construction materials, window seals, hoses, gaskets, and electrical insulation. It is also used in various industrial products where materials must maintain their performance under changing temperatures and environmental conditions.
Because EPDM rubber is connected to the petrochemical supply chain, changes in crude oil prices, energy costs, and feedstock availability can influence its market value. Manufacturers also need to consider transportation expenses, production conditions, and the availability of suitable grades.
During Q2 2026, these factors became particularly important. Supply disruptions increased uncertainty across the market, while higher feedstock costs put pressure on producers. Buyers in different regions faced rising procurement expenses, and many had to review their purchasing plans to manage the higher cost of raw materials.
Major Factors Influencing the EPDM Rubber Price Trend
1. Geopolitical Tensions and Feedstock Disruptions
One of the main reasons behind the increase in EPDM rubber prices during Q2 2026 was the disruption of energy and feedstock supply chains associated with tensions in the Middle East. Concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz affected market confidence and raised questions about the smooth movement of energy supplies.
Naphtha is an important feedstock for producing several petrochemicals, including ethylene and propylene. When naphtha availability becomes restricted, downstream chemical producers can face higher input costs and operational challenges.
These developments affected the broader petrochemical sector and increased the cost pressure on EPDM rubber manufacturers. When raw materials become expensive, producers may adjust their selling prices to protect their operating margins.
2. Higher Crude Oil and Energy Costs
Crude oil prices influence the cost structure of many petrochemical products. During the early part of Q2 2026, rising crude-related expenses increased pressure on manufacturers and suppliers.
Energy is also an important part of rubber production. Manufacturing facilities require reliable energy supplies to operate equipment, maintain production conditions, and process materials. Higher energy costs can therefore increase the overall expense of producing and delivering EPDM rubber.
These combined pressures supported price increases across several markets during the quarter.
3. Limited Availability of Material
Supply chain disruptions can affect both production and product deliveries. Even when demand remains relatively stable, limited material availability can create competition among buyers.
During Q2 2026, reduced feedstock availability and supply constraints affected the movement of EPDM rubber across international markets. Import-dependent countries were particularly exposed to changes in export availability and shipping conditions.
When buyers are concerned about future supply, they may place orders earlier or increase their purchases to maintain sufficient inventory. This can add further support to prices in an already tight market.
4. Transportation and Import Costs
EPDM rubber is traded across international markets, so shipping conditions and transportation expenses are important parts of its final cost. Disruptions to major shipping routes can increase freight expenses and create uncertainty around delivery schedules.
Importers must also consider insurance, port handling, currency movements, and other costs associated with international procurement. These expenses can influence the prices paid by manufacturers in importing countries.
For this reason, the same product may experience different price movements across regions, even when global feedstock conditions are similar.

South Korea: EPDM Rubber Prices Increase by Around 27%
South Korea recorded an increase of approximately 27% in EPDM rubber prices during Q2 2026. The market was affected by disruptions in naphtha supply and rising costs for important feedstocks, including ethylene and propylene.
Limited raw material availability increased manufacturing expenses and created pressure on supply. As a result, export prices remained firm during much of the quarter.
In June 2026, EPDM rubber prices in South Korea increased by around 1%. This modest rise indicated that cost pressures and supply limitations had not fully disappeared, even as some broader market conditions began to stabilise.
South Korea also plays an important role in supplying EPDM rubber to other Asian markets. Changes in its production and export availability can therefore affect buyers in China and Thailand.
USA: EPDM Rubber Prices Rise by Around 18%
In the United States, EPDM rubber prices increased by approximately 18% during Q2 2026. Higher crude oil values, increased energy expenses, and disruptions to feedstock flows contributed to the upward movement.
Manufacturers faced higher costs for essential raw materials, while supply chain uncertainty added pressure to the domestic market. These conditions supported firm prices during the early and middle parts of the quarter.
However, June brought a slight correction. EPDM rubber prices in the USA declined by around 2% as feedstock costs eased somewhat and supply conditions gradually improved.
The correction was relatively small compared with the quarterly increase. It suggested that the market was beginning to respond to improving conditions, although the cost increases recorded earlier in the quarter continued to influence overall pricing.
Netherlands: EPDM Rubber Prices Increase by Around 28%
The Netherlands recorded an increase of approximately 28% in EPDM rubber prices during Q2 2026. Higher energy expenses and restricted feedstock availability contributed to the strong upward movement.
European manufacturers faced additional pressure from gas-related costs and concerns about energy availability. These factors increased the overall cost of production and made it more difficult for suppliers to reduce selling prices.
Limited availability of ethylene and propylene also supported market firmness. As the quarter progressed, easing geopolitical concerns and improved feedstock flows helped create more stable market conditions.
Despite these developments, EPDM rubber prices in the Netherlands increased by around 2% in June 2026. This showed that the effects of earlier supply disruptions and production costs continued to influence the market.

As buyers competed for available material, prices remained firm. In June 2026, EPDM rubber prices in China increased by around 1%, showing that the market continued to experience some pressure despite gradual improvements in the wider supply chain.
The Chinese market demonstrates how regional prices can be affected by developments outside the country. Even if local demand remains stable, changes in the availability and cost of imported material can influence domestic purchasing decisions.
India: EPDM Rubber Prices Increase by Around 30%
India recorded the strongest increase among the markets covered in this analysis, with EPDM rubber prices rising by approximately 30% during Q2 2026.
The increase was linked to disruptions in feedstock supply across Asia, concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, and higher costs for raw materials. Restricted naphtha availability affected the wider petrochemical supply chain, contributing to increased costs for ethylene and propylene.
Limited material inflows placed additional pressure on the Indian market. Buyers faced higher procurement expenses, while competition for available supplies supported further price increases.
India's dependence on international supply channels for certain grades makes the market sensitive to changes in overseas prices, freight costs, and shipment schedules. When international prices rise sharply, importers and domestic distributors may need to adjust their selling prices accordingly.
In June 2026, EPDM rubber prices in India declined by around 1%. This small correction reflected improving feedstock availability and gradually easing supply pressure.
However, the limited decline compared with the quarterly increase suggests that purchasing costs remained elevated. Buyers continued to monitor overseas prices and material availability when planning their procurement.
Thailand: EPDM Rubber Prices Increase by Around 27%
Thailand recorded an increase of approximately 27% in EPDM rubber prices during Q2 2026. The market was affected by restricted supplies from South Korea, where feedstock availability and manufacturing costs were under pressure.
Disruptions in naphtha flows increased the cost of producing ethylene and propylene, contributing to higher EPDM rubber production expenses. Reduced export availability and shipment uncertainty further tightened the supply of material reaching Thailand.
In June 2026, EPDM rubber prices increased by around 1%. Continued supply limitations and supported feedstock costs prevented a significant decline during the month.
For Thai manufacturers, monitoring developments in South Korea and the wider Asian petrochemical market remained important for managing raw material expenses.
EPDM Rubber Price Chart: What the Q2 Movement Shows
The EPDM Rubber Price Chart for Q2 2026 reflects a broad upward movement across all seven markets covered in this analysis. The increases were driven mainly by higher feedstock costs, energy expenses, and supply chain disruptions.
The quarterly price changes can be summarised as follows:
India: approximately 30% increase.
Netherlands: approximately 28% increase.
Japan: approximately 28% increase.
China: approximately 28% increase.
South Korea: approximately 27% increase.
Thailand: approximately 27% increase.
USA: approximately 18% increase.
These figures highlight the differences between regional markets. India recorded the largest increase, while the USA experienced a comparatively smaller rise during the quarter.
The chart's overall direction indicates that the market faced widespread cost pressure rather than an isolated regional problem. However, regional production conditions, import requirements, and transportation expenses contributed to differences in the scale of price movements.
June also showed that the market did not move in exactly the same direction everywhere. Prices increased slightly in South Korea, the Netherlands, Japan, China, and Thailand, while India and the USA recorded small corrections.
This difference is important for buyers because global price movements do not always translate into identical changes in local markets.
EPDM Rubber Price Index: Understanding the June Correction
The EPDM Rubber Price Index provides a useful way to understand how prices change over time. During Q2 2026, the index reflected the broad increase in market prices as feedstock availability tightened and production costs rose.
By June, improving supply conditions and easing feedstock pressure supported a degree of stabilisation. However, the adjustment differed by market.
India recorded a correction of around 1%, while the USA saw a decline of approximately 2%. In contrast, South Korea, Japan, China, and Thailand experienced increases of around 1%, and the Netherlands recorded an increase of around 2%.
These movements suggest that the market was entering a more mixed phase. Some regions began to benefit from easing costs, while others continued to experience limited supply and elevated production expenses.
A price index should not be interpreted as a direct measure of demand alone. Changes in raw material costs, supply availability, shipping expenses, and regional purchasing activity can all influence its direction.
For businesses, tracking the index alongside regional price assessments can help identify whether a price increase is broad-based or limited to particular markets.
Impact on EPDM Rubber Buyers and End-Use Industries
Higher EPDM rubber prices can affect several industries because the material is used in a wide range of products.
The automotive industry uses EPDM rubber for weather seals, window seals, hoses, and other components that require flexibility and resistance to environmental exposure. When raw material prices rise, component manufacturers may face higher production costs.
The construction industry also uses EPDM in roofing membranes, waterproofing applications, and sealing products. Rising rubber prices can increase project material expenses, particularly when purchases are made in large quantities.
Industrial manufacturers may experience similar pressure when EPDM rubber is used in gaskets, insulation, and other technical components. Businesses working with fixed-price supply contracts can find it difficult to pass sudden cost increases to customers immediately.
To manage these challenges, buyers can compare quotations from different suppliers, review inventory requirements, and discuss pricing terms before placing large orders. Maintaining communication with suppliers can also help businesses prepare for possible changes in delivery schedules or product availability.
At the same time, buyers should avoid making purchasing decisions based only on short-term market movements. Actual requirements, storage capacity, cash flow, product specifications, and delivery commitments should remain part of the decision-making process.
EPDM Rubber Price Forecast: What to Watch After Q2 2026
The future direction of EPDM rubber prices will depend on how feedstock costs, supply conditions, and demand develop after the second quarter.
One important factor will be the movement of crude oil and naphtha prices. If energy markets remain stable and feedstock availability improves, production costs could become more manageable. This may reduce some of the pressure that supported higher prices during Q2.
A second factor will be the availability of ethylene and propylene. Improved production and smoother distribution could help EPDM manufacturers meet customer requirements more consistently. However, further disruptions could keep costs elevated.
Shipping conditions will also remain important, especially for countries that rely on imports. Changes in freight rates, insurance expenses, and delivery times can affect the final price paid by buyers.
Demand from the automotive, construction, and industrial sectors will provide another important signal. If manufacturers increase production and restocking activity, demand for EPDM rubber could remain supportive. If buyers delay purchases because of high prices, sellers may face greater pressure to adjust their offers.
For India, the relationship between international prices and domestic import costs will be particularly important. Buyers should monitor overseas supply conditions, exchange rates, freight expenses, and domestic availability together rather than considering any single factor in isolation.
Although June's corrections in India and the USA indicated some easing, they were relatively small compared with the quarterly increases. It would therefore be premature to assume that prices will return quickly to their earlier levels. The direction of the market will depend on actual changes in supply, costs, and demand.
The EPDM Rubber Price Trend during Q2 2026 was marked by substantial increases across major global markets. India recorded an increase of around 30%, followed by the Netherlands, Japan, and China at approximately 28%. South Korea and Thailand rose by around 27%, while the USA recorded an increase of approximately 18%.
The main drivers were geopolitical tensions, disruptions affecting naphtha supply, higher energy expenses, and rising costs for ethylene and propylene. These factors increased production costs and restricted material availability across several regions.
