Isabella Herrera

Isabella Herrera (she/her) is a senior Theater major and Women & Gender Studies minor at the University of Toledo. She has taken on many acting roles and theatrical activities during her time in college, such as Ophelia in Hamlet, Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank, and Henrietta in Silent Sky. She will be graduating in the spring and plans to attend graduate school next fall.

MAURICE: A wildlife ranger and instructor at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. His life is fueled by his optimism, genuine values, and giving nature. Everything revolves around the love of his life, LESLIE. After his perfect life starts to crack, he manages to completely shatter it when he begins to make the wrong move at every turn. Male, early 30s.

Lilian Schmid

Lilian Schmid (she/her) is a student at the University of Toledo and has been a part of many productions, most recently acting in a production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told.

LESLIE: Engaged to MAURICE. MAURICE'S other half. Meant for one another. A genuine and kind woman, but soul-destroying pain is plenty enough to drive her to seek revenge. Female, early 30s.

Gerardo Rosario

Gerardo Rosario (he/him) is a recent Theater graduate of the University of Toledo. He has acted in many productions. He has written and directed for the Festival of New Student Works at UT. He looks forward to being on stage again after a short break.

TONY: The owner of a local deli. A butcher. A charming and friendly man hiding the fact that he's a creep-ass motherfucker. No shame in his actions. Male, mid to late 30s.

BOSS: The head honcho at the wildlife refuge. Short temper. Thinks MAURICE is a great employee, but comes to find him becoming a problem. Male, mid to late 40s.

Nat Krygielski

Nat Krygielski (she/her) is a student at the University of Toledo. She has been involved in multiple productions at UT, including roles in the Festival of New Student Works 2025 and Every Christmas Story Ever Told.

MOTHER: MAURICE'S less than helpful mother. She has high expectations for her son that obviously cannot be met, clashing with a bitter past. Female, late 50s to late 60s.

YOUNG GIRL: Regularly camps at and visits the wildlife refuge with her ensemble of peers for environmental lessons. A curious and excitable girl. Good kid... but something about her fucks with MAURICE. Female, 10-12 years old.

Ben Nieto

Ben Nieto (he/him) is a graduate of Adrian College, where he minored in Theater. This is his first show located at the University of Toledo.

FATHER: The memory of MAURICE'S father. A man who left the Earth, leaving behind a detestable memory of himself. Cruel. Abusive. Not husband material. Male, late 50s to late 60s.

YOUNG CHILD: Another camper. Overly sensitive, even for a child. The face of innocence in contrast to the YOUNG GIRL. Well-mannered. Kind. Male, 10-12 years old.

OFFICER: A Seneca PD officer. Male, any age.

Erin Canary

Erin Canary (they/he/she) is a freshman at the University of Toledo, majoring in both Computer Science and Theater. They have been involved in many theatrical activities over the years and have a wide range of skills, varying from taking on roles in acting, stage crew, playwriting, and directing. This will be their second show located at UT's campus.

JACOB: MAURICE'S old college buddy who helps him get by when things go south. The only source of genuine support MAURICE has when his life goes to shit. A dude-bro type of guy with a big heart and not afraid to show it. Manly. Wholesome. Gentle. The exact opposite of toxic masculinity. Male, early 30s.

CLERK: A pet store clerk. Any gender, any age.

CHILD: A camper. Any gender, 10-12 years old.

Paige White

Paige White (she/her) is a freshman at the University of Toledo. This will be her second production located at UT, her first having been cast in their recent production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told.

THERAPIST: A therapist. MAURICE'S chance for redemption. Any gender, any age.

NEIGHBOR: MAURICE'S grumpy neighbor. Male, early 70s to mid 80s.

CHILD: A camper. Any gender, 10-12 years old.

Hannah Flaherty

Hannah Flaherty (she/her) is a freshman majoring in both Theater and Communications at the University of Toledo. This will be their second production located at UT, their first having been cast in UT's recent production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told.

BRADEN: A drug dealer. A young man trying to find his direction in life. Knows MAURICE from family ties, and of course, from selling drugs. Male, early 20s.

NERDY CHILD: A nerdy camper. Any gender, 10-12 years old.

RAT: A literal rat.
