Teaching and Mentoring

Elizabeth Yoseph is a freshman in the Astronautical Engineering department at USC. She is working with me as a CURVE intern. Her research focuses on understanding seismic site response of the lunar surface and regolith. 

Elizabeth presented her work as a poster at the LPSC in Houston. She also received the poster presentation prize at USC CEERS Departmental Symposium. Elizabeth received the CURVE continuation award to continue working in summer 2026 to finish her research.  

Ana Sotelo is a rising senior at the University of Wisconsin–Madison studying Geology & Geophysics and Cartography & GIS. She will be working with Rashid Shams on seismic site response in the San Fernando and San Gabriel Basins as part of the SCEC SOURCES program.

I mentored Bethania Dargim a freshmen in Civil Engineering. I helped her network and smoothen her transition to school and give her insights about going for master's. 

I mentored Giselle Ajanel joining Master's in Data Science as a part of Viterbi Graduate Mentorship Program. I helped her network and smoothen her transition to graduate school. s

I co-mentored three Apple NACME scholars BootCamp (nacme.org) (Undergrads from different US universities) to complete a project. The project involved studying HVSR curves using AutoEncoders.
