The photos taken west of Cantil in Jawbone area where an old mining homestead existed until the miners death in the 70s 80s. this is after a heavy rainstorm bcz the dry lake bed isn't so dry and at least 15 years back bcz there are no solar panels dotting the foothills of the hi desert.
This is the Mojave Desert where some BRAVE Souls choose to live. HOT in the summer and freezing cold in the winter and nights except in the summer months between June 15 and Sept 30. There is very little shade anywhere, The winds comprable to hurricane force winds travelling sand and dust high into the atmosphere, while dust devils stir up everything else. Is not much here except good neighbors, where decency still is a thing. Joshua Trees, Desert Tortoises, OHV riding, solar farms and SAND
Cantil is located beneath Saltdale and Koehn Dry Lake once part of land of Kane Springs. When Gold was discovered in California the area blew up in populations and had more residents living in Saltdale than all of Los Angeles. Now not a single home stands nor is there a living soul still there. The Salt Lake is VERY DANGEROUS after rains it becomes QUICKSAND like in EGYPTIAN DESERT. PLEASE FOLKS SERIOUSLY BE AWARE OF THE DANGERS OF THIS PLACE NOBODY WOULD EVER FIND YOUR REMAINS ONCE SUCKED UNDER THE SALT FLAT. There is some CRAZY stuff that has disappeared on this salt lake from snow shoes, stop signs, buildings, rock houses, vehicles, shoes, semi trucks fully loaded. Theres old story that a full size fighter plane of 30s is sunk in there before HERO Chuck Yeagers historic flight overhead from EAFB.
