Started playing 2017
Fernanda was introduced to the sport of polocrosse at a demo during the Mane Event in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the sport. She started playing sporadically in 2016 in D grade and was fully committed in 2017. Fernanda is very passionate about the sport and everyone who knows her now know about Polocrosse!
This is my 10th year playing polocrosse. I am one of the main coaches for the club. I'm an A grade player who is comfortable in any position. It took me awhile to find my best playing horse, The Good Doctor. My favorite part of playing polocrosse is the willingness of my horse to do the job and play the game and I believe he loves it as much as I do. We are a great team. In 2012, I represented Team Canada. Polocrosse has provided the opportunity for me to compete in New Zealand, Australia, United States and France
Grade: A grade
How long you’ve been playing polocrosse: starting my 4th season
Horses name: Yahoo Jillaroo and Special Delivery
Favourite memory on the polocrosse field: learning a move in practice and being about to execute that move in a game situation
Favourite memory off the polocrosse field: playing bucket ball
Favourite part of being a Ranahan member: We are a family. Members respect each other and are all willing to assist/help when needed.
Grade: C Grade
How long have you been playing? 3 or 4 years
Horses Name: Bobby
Fav Memory on: Seeing first year/younger members make their debut on the field. They are always so excited to catch their first pass or score their first goal.
Fav memory off: Socializing on Saturday nights after tournaments. (lol I’m being vague because I don’t want to mention falling in water troughs)
Fav part of Ranahan: My favourite part about the team is that everyone is really laid back, easy to get along with and just want to have fun with their horses.
I did the thing all horse people tell you not to do – bought the first horse I laid eyes on. Who cared if I was inexperienced and he was an unbroken 4 year old? We have taught each other a lot of useful knowledge along our 11-year journey through lessons, Pony Club, 4-H and now Polocrosse with Ranahans Club. Pine Nathan Walker, or Red, is a registered foundation Morgan, foaled in Brooks, Alberta. He is now a 15 year old with a work ethic I can only hope to emulate. He has definitely found his sport; there is nothing more he likes to do (apart from eat) than speed around a polocrosse pitch, hunt balls and push others out of the way. At a relatively late stage in my life I have also found my sport (achieving second in the 2017 Stampede Classic Ranahans Tournament, D division), but that is one of the amazing things about Polocrosse; all those who are interested in participating are welcome. Ranahan is a highly supportive club that has given me the opportunity to step up, compete and grow as a horsewoman.
I have been playing since 2015. My horse's name is Jessie. Jessie is a purebred Quarter Horse. My favorite memory off of the field is spending time with all the polocrosse players from other teams and meeting new friends from Australia. My favorite part about being a part of the Ranahan Polocrosse Club is that it is like a family and a place that I can have fun with my best friend Jessie.
