3D Geospatial AI Research Group
Our research group specializes in harnessing the capabilities of LiDAR Remote Sensing technology, a groundbreaking geospatial tool that enables precise and direct elevation measurements of the Earth's surface. This data facilitates the creation of detailed 3D maps, providing a comprehensive understanding of surface features. However, the unstructured nature and sheer volume of LiDAR data present challenges in localizing and extracting urban objects in a 3D perspective.
Our primary focus revolves around developing cutting-edge algorithms and methodologies, harnessing the power of AI/ML/DL for the automated processing of LiDAR point clouds. This involves addressing the intricacies of the point cloud's inherent structure to unlock valuable insights and applications. The diverse and unexplored nature of this data opens up numerous exciting research avenues within our group.
In parallel, our research extends to the domain of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) data processing. We are actively engaged in the creation of algorithms designed for processing Multispectral UAV data and point clouds derived from UAV missions. These developments are aimed at enhancing our understanding of various environments and finding applications across diverse fields.
Additionally, our research group works with geospatial datasets derived from very high-resolution satellite/ airborne images, exploring their potential for a wide range of applications .
Our commitment to advancing the field of geospatial research is evident in our ongoing efforts to refine and optimize methodologies for processing both LiDAR and UAV data. By pushing the boundaries of automation and precision, we strive to unlock the full potential of these technologies for a multitude of applications, ranging from environmental monitoring to urban planning and beyond.
