Autonomous surgery is widely recognized as a key direction for the future of surgical care. Semaphor Surgical was founded on the belief that advancing this field requires more than improved hardware - it demands intelligent systems capable of perceiving, planning, and acting in real time. Semaphor focuses on building this intelligence layer, translating advances in surgical AI and autonomous robotics into practical, system-level infrastructure that can be integrated across a range of surgical platforms.
The MCML is a joint initiative of leading researchers from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Technische Universität München.
The MCML is institutionally funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Free State of Bavaria.
Our mission is to bring together leading researchers in Germany, strengthen regional, national and international expertise in the field of AI and make the corresponding potential available to users from science and industry.
Our center encompasses eleven research areas in the fields of application-oriented Machine Learning and foundational research. More than 70 Principal Investigators and Associates, along with over 370 Junior Members conduct scientific research in these fields.
SynthesEyes is dedicated to advancing surgical innovation by bringing together multidisciplinary expertise in machine learning, computer graphics, and medicine.
Their patient-specific simulation environment enables realistic surgery training and the generation of multimodal, temporal synthetic data, ready to train next-generation AI models.
The vision of SynthesEyes is to create a common domain between human perception and computer perception through an immersive simulation environment to improve the efficient integration and acceptance of the next generation of surgical devices.
