Since 2005, Ramatu has been actively transforming Public Health Supply Chains to save lives and improve wellbeing of people across National and Sub-national healthcare supply chains in Nigeria.
As one of the 100 most influential Supply Chain Women in Africa 2021, Ramatu is involved in capacity building of young professionals in supply chain management to lead with impact around the world. Undergraduate and graduate students in Nigeria and globally have benefited from Ramatu’s pragmatic teaching expertise. Ramatu has led circular economy strategies for smart cities and has created platforms for diverse stakeholder engagements.
PROFILE
Dr. Ramatu, a certified supply chain professional and a distinguished expert in public health supply chain systems works as a Senior Program Manager with LEARN Logistics by Kühne Foundation. In her previous role as Executive Secretary/CEO of the Health Supplies Management Agency (KADHSMA), she spearheaded the overhaul of Kaduna State's Health Supply Chain systems, benefiting over 10 million residents. Her accomplishments include overseeing the enhancement of the state's first government-owned and operated Pharma-grade warehouse, valued at NGN 250 Million. During her tenure at KADHSMA, Dr. Ramatu achieved excellence in supply chain operations, ensuring equitable access to health products and supplies, transparent procurement processes, sustainable last-mile distribution, and comprehensive supply chain visibility. Leveraging her extensive experience in strategic leadership, she successfully managed a Health Products Procurement portfolio exceeding 5 billion naira from 2016 to 2020.
Dr. Ramatu played a crucial role in the Kaduna State Government's strategic investments in human resource development for Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This initiative resulted in 17 civil servants obtaining MSc degrees in global logistics and supply chain management from UK institutions. As a prominent figure addressing product and system value chain challenges in low- and middle-income countries, Dr. Ramatu has actively participated in discussions on logistics and supply chain management. She has contributed as a keynote speaker, policy analyst, development strategist, circular economy expert, subject matter specialist, and researcher both domestically and internationally.
Dr. Ramatu's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, an MSc in Pharmacology from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, and a PhD in Transport Logistics from Liverpool John Moores University, UK. She is an accredited preceptor, supervisor, and Fellow with the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacist in Public Health, as well as a member of the Nigerian Health Research Ethics Committee. Her research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals. She is an alumna of the University of Oxford's strategic leadership programme and a Fellow of the International Program in Public Health Leadership from the University of Washington, USA. Additionally, she holds certification as an academic trainer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Kuehne Logistic University in Hamburg, Germany.
