Clinician, academician, educator and researcher, Prof Dr Rajvardhan Azad embodies these qualities with a self-assurance that comes through expertise and experience in the field of eye care for over 35 years.

Presently the Honorary Director of RRECC, he is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCS), Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS), Royal Society of Medicine (FRSM) and International College of Surgeons (FICS).His commitment to teaching, research and patient care brought his way facultiship, Professorship and the Chiefship of the Dr RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS.

He is currently Advisor (Ophthalmology) to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and Armed Forces Medical Services and Vision 2020 India. He is also Honorary Professor of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. He is also Advisor to State Key Laboratory which is the main research hub for ophthalmology in Guangzhou, China. He has travelled extensively as Visiting Professor to numerous leading institutions, including the University of Texas Health Science Centre of Houston, USA, University of Toronto, Canada and Dohney Eye Institute, Los Angeles. He is on the Board of Trustees of International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), the highest body of Ophthalmologists in World.

He has been Examiner for under and post graduate students in over 20 universities in India and abroad. He has published 12 books, 200 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 60 chapters in books and periodicals.

He serves on the Editorial Board and as scientific reviewer of Ophthalmology (AAO), IJO, APJO, JAPOS, BJO, CEO, Eye, Journal of Ophthalmology, Acta Ophthalmologica and OJO. He is recipient of more than 40 prestigious awards and orations including De O'campo Oration by APAO for achieving highest excellence in teaching and research and Dr BC Roy National Award for Best Medical teacher in India.

He is the first from India to achieve the most coveted and prestigious post of the President of Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, a body of more than 50,000 Ophthalmologists of World. He is a named Honorary Surgeon to the President of India. He is also the Member of Global Advisory Committee of American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

Having graduated in medicine from Rajendra Medical College, Ranchi in 1992, Dr Nagendra Prasad joined Dr RP Centre AIIMS, New Delhi. He finished his post graduation i.e. MD (Ophthalmology) from AIIMS in 1995. Bihar and joined IGIMS in 1995 as senior resident, and rose to the rank of assistant professor and associate professor until 2006.

In 2006, he started his own clinic 'Buddha Eye Care' in Patna. Dr Nagendra is a visiting consultant in RRECC and one of the topmost eye surgeons of Bihar. He excells in phaco surgery which he does with surprising ease and precision. By now, he has done over 25000 cataract surgeries including paediatric cataracts. He is also an accomplished medical retina specialist and refractive surgeon (surgery for removing the glasses). He has seen more than 1 lakh eye cases during his career as an eye surgeon spanning over 25 years. 

He has widely travelled, delivered lectures and received various awards and orations including outstanding service award of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Santosh Kumar did his MBBS from MGM medical College Jamshedpur. He completed his post graduation from Regional Institute of Medical Science, Imphal, Manipur. He did his fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery from Susrut Eye Foundation Kolkata and later joined there as consultant VR Surgeon.

Currently he is working as consultant VR Surgeon in Raj Retina and Eye Care Centre.

He can perform ROP Screening and Laser for premature babies, Laser for other retinal diseases & all kind of Vitreoretinal Surgeries.

Dr Swati Kumari completed her MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences. She completed her DNB from JPM Rotary eye hospital, Cuttack in 2019. She has done long term fellowship in cornea and Cataract from Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre.

She has also presented research papers in National Symposia. She has special interest refractive surgery, management of corneal blindness and uvea.

Dr Meha Kantha did her MBBS from Manipal University in 2007 and MS from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Calcutta Medical College in 2011, wherein she received the prestigious SK Basu Gold Medal for excellence. She did her long term fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery from Dr Shroff's Charitable Eye Hospital, New Delhi. She routinely performs various diagnostic procedures like fundus fluroscein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, optical coherence tomography scanning and ultrasound imaging, and gives intravitreal injections (anti-VEGF, steroids, antibiotic and tPA) for various retinal pathologies. She performs a number of vitreoretinal surgeries including external buckling surgery for retinal detachment  and vitrectomies for vitreous haemorrage, advanced diabetic eye disease, dropped nucleus, dislocated IOL, intraocular foreign bodies and endophthalmitis, as well as various macular surgical procedures like macular hole surgery, vitreomacular traction and epiretinal membrane removal. As a member of a number of prestigious ocular societies, she actively participates in academic meetings and conferences.

Dr CB Chaudhary

Dr Pankaj is a paediatric and adult anaesthesiologist at RRECC. He has previously worked as Resident Anaesthesiologist at IGIMS Patna, and is currently a Cardiac Anaesthesiologist and Intensivist at IGIC Patna. He is also working as ICU In-charge of Chanakya Hospital Patna, Consultant Anaesthetist at Ruban Emergency Hospital, Palm View Hospital, and Shivam Hospital, Patna.
