Spectroscopy

Variation in peak positions and intensity of the scheelite (CaWO4)-powellite (CaMoO4) series with varying Molybdenum content. The Raman spectra can be used to understand the chemical composition of an unknown sample.

SiO2, is the major chemical constituent of many glasses. The response of fused silica to high-pressure has therefore been extensively studied. Other widely used glasses, such as soda-lime glass (SLG), display important differences from fused silica but are less well characterized. Here, we show the differences between the Raman spectra of silica glass and SLG.
