Dr. S. Rajasekhara Reddy earned his Ph.D. from IIT Madras in 2010. He completed his B.Sc. from Acharya Nagarjuna University in India (1997-2000) and his M.Sc. from Andhra University in India (2002). From 2003 to 2004, he worked at IIT Guwahati in India as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF). In 2010, he started his independent research as an Assistant Professor and then served as an Associate Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, in the Department of Chemistry, School of Advanced Sciences, from 2014 to 2022. In 2023, he was promoted to Professor at the same institution. He also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Ching Fa Yao's lab at National Taiwan Normal University from March to December 2018. Furthermore, Dr. Reddy worked as a visiting professor at NTHU Taiwan as part of the SPARC, MHRD-India project from January 31st to April 31st, 2024. Further, he also worked as a Visiting Professor at the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS), University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, from May 2024 to June 2024 as part of the VIN Research Collaboration Grant.
Dr. Reddy's current research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, catalysis, medicinal chemistry, asymmetric synthesis, chemistry from renewable resources (especially carbohydrates and plants), and chemical biology. He has a strong publication record in peer-reviewed international publications and has presented his work at national and international conferences. Dr. Reddy's scientific contributions are shared through invited talks, oral presentations, and poster presentations, and he has received acclaim from several research institutes and industries (eg. Kaohsiung Medical University KMU [Taiwan], Tunghai University [Taiwan], NTNU[Taiwan], NTHU[Taiwan], NCTU[Taiwan], NSYSU[Taiwan], NCHU[Taiwan], University De Santiago(Spain), University of Sevilla, University of Oviedo(Spain), University of Santiago de Compostela(Spain), IICT, NIPER, IITs, NITs, Suven Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd). He has given a total of 86 presentations, both nationally and internationally. Additionally, he has been actively involved in the planning of national and international conferences, faculty development programs, and workshops, taking on various roles such as convener, organizing secretary, and coordinator. Dr. Reddy recently hosted 12 professors from KMU in Taiwan, organized an Indo-Taiwan workshop, and worked on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KMU and VIT.
Dr. Reddy is meticulous doing his performing his duties in teaching, conducting research, and mentoring Ph. D students. 7 doctoral students received their Ph.D. degrees under his guidance. Apart from that, he supervised 19 postgraduate students and 5 UG students for their final year projects, completed 2 external funded projects. He is now supervising 6 Ph.D. students and three master's students. He has published 54 international research articles in reputed peer reviewed journals, as well and 11 book chapters.
