1. Introduction
Rain Delay ("the App") is a mobile application developed by Jordan Bunyan to assist ECB-accredited cricket umpires in calculating revised playing conditions following weather interruptions.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for the App is:
Jordan Bunyan
Email: raindelayapp@gmail.com
For any privacy-related queries or requests, please contact us at the email address above.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the App's functionality.
3.1 Username
To access the App, you will be asked to enter a username agreed by yourself and the umpire's panel. No password is required. Usernames are stored in a list solely for the purpose of controlling access to the App. Users will often choose their email address as their username; however, this is entirely at their own discretion in collaboration with the umpire's panel. The App does not store any personal data beyond the username itself, and usernames are not used to identify, profile, or contact any individual.
3.2 Analytics Data (Where Applicable)
We may use third-party analytics tools to collect anonymised, aggregated information solely for the purpose of improving App functionality and stability. Analytics data is not used to identify individual users. This may include:
- Device type and operating system version
- App usage patterns and feature interactions
- Crash reports and performance diagnostics
- General geographic region (country level only)
Analytics data does not identify you personally. It is used only to improve the App's stability and user experience.
3.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Names, postal addresses, or financial information
- Location data or device GPS coordinates
- Camera, microphone, or other device sensor data
- Contacts, calendars, or files stored on your device
- Health or biometric data
4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
Where we process personal data, we do so on the following legal bases under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018:
- Legitimate Interests — to operate and improve the App's functionality for ECB umpires.
- Consent — where you have voluntarily provided a username or opted in to analytics features.
5. How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used to:
- Identify your session and preferences within the App
- Provide accurate revised playing condition calculations
- Monitor and improve App performance and stability
- Diagnose and fix technical issues
We will not use your information for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share anonymised, aggregated analytics data with third-party analytics providers (such as Google Analytics or Firebase) solely to improve the App. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and applicable data protection law.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or a valid request from a competent authority.
7. Data Retention
Usernames are retained for as long as access to the App is required. Analytics data is retained in anonymised form for up to 26 months, in line with standard analytics platform defaults. You may request removal of your username at any time by contacting us at raindelayapp@gmail.com.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for all ages but is primarily intended for adult ECB-accredited cricket umpires. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
10. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification — to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure — to request deletion of your data ('right to be forgotten').
- Right to Restrict Processing — to ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to Data Portability — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Right to Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent, to withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact raindelayapp@gmail.com. We will respond
within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information
Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
11. Third-Party Services
The App may integrate third-party analytics services. These services operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review:
- Google Analytics / Firebase: policies.google.com/privacy
We do not incorporate third-party advertising SDKs, in-app purchase services, or social media integrations.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
