The tiny ear story

At Raindance Ranch we love our "tiny ears". Well, we love all of our sheep but we take particular joy in breeding for elf and the rare gopher ear sheep. The Painted Desert Sheep Society breed standard for ears is below. We have found that the "formula" for the different types of ears is fairly reliable, although we have "bettered" the odds a couple of times :)

Breeding: 

Regular (Standard) ear X Regular (standard) ear = Regular (Standard) ear lamb 100%

Regular (Standard)  ear X Elf ear = 50% Elf ear / 50% Regular (Standard) ear

Elf ear X Elf ear = 25% Gopher ear/25% Regular(Standard ear)/50% Elf ear

Elf ear X Gopher ear=50% Gopher ear/50% Elf ear

Gopher ear x Regular (Standard) ear = Elf ear 100%

Gopher ear X Gopher ear = Gopher ear 100%
