Foundation Phase Curriculum

At Rainbow Connection, we aim to create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which children’s curiosity is respected, creativity valued, and collaborations supported.

We believe that by integrating The Reggio Emilia and progressive, creative education practices, we prepare children to enter any primary school environment successfully. We honour the image of the child and the many languages in which children learn. It also means that we respect the children’s agency to lead their own learning. We believe that education is about enabling children to better understand themselves and the world around them thus creating a culture of compassion and awareness. We regard children as naturally rich and resourceful; they simply require the right space to develop and grow.

We provide holistic and sustainable education that fosters creativity, emotional intelligence and consciousness in each child. Our role is to nurture a generation of future leaders who are compassionate and active participants in their communities. We are an inclusive school. However we are not a remedial school and we do not believe that children need to be ‘fixed’. This informs the place from which we operate.

Our goal is for children to be able to self-direct their work and be independent learners who can work in an emergent environment. Our practices are geared to supporting the children in achieving this goal.
