PARTNERSHIP

The Railway Ground Hazard Research Program (RGHRP) is a collaborative effort among industry leaders, academic institutions and the federal government. Our research is aimed at developing and evaluating technical solutions that manage the risks associated with ground hazards, including landslides, rockfalls, subsidence, stream erosion, and extreme weather events.

The unique collaboration among RGHRP partners—Canadian National Railway Company (CN), Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), University of Alberta, Queen’s University, Transport Canada (TC), and Natural Resources Canada / the Geological Survey of Canada—shows the commitment of everyone involved towards an innovative and competitive railway sector that prioritizes the safety of Canadians and their quality of life.

Dr. Michael Hendry (University of Alberta) and Dr. Jean Hutchinson (Queen’s University) serve as Principal Investigators for RGHRP. They provide technical oversight, direct and coordinate the work being done by our researchers.
