A wild and mountainous walk across the grain of the valleys. If you are up for 700m of climbing, a few stretches of rough ground and a rocky descent, it will reward you with some of the quietest and most rugged scenery that South Wales has to offer.
The first half of the walk climbs through a forest, before descending past the lake below, into Pontycymer, where we will stop at a cafe. The second half, after lunch, will have the biggest climb, and the rocky descent, past the Graig-Fawr escarpment, left, towards Parc Cwm.
Please note: this walk includes some climbing up rocks, using hands, a steep descent over scree and some rough ground in places. We will be taking it gently. It is recommended for walkers who are experienced and patient!
