Note regarding the waste to energy plant at Mount Piper Power Station.
Energy Aust. determined that shipping the waste from Western Sydney would require a dedicated rail siding and that that would be too expensive. Source (see p.17 of ttpp report and Appendix B, section 7.)
This would have been an ideal opportunity to combine with the rolling highway Intermodal terminal at Marangaroo to then take 96 truck movements a day off the Great Western Highway (except for 3 kms to Tunnel Hill).
Whether or not the waste to energy proposal is a good thing is moot.
