HISTORY

1965 - The Southern Railway acquires the Wabash and NKP Railroads. The two roads connect at Lima, OH (via DT&I) and E. St. Louis. 

1967 - NKP is offically merged into the Wabash.

1968 - The first Wabash engine in Southern livery is delivered.

1972 - Southern Railway buys the DT&I. 

1977 - Southern announces plans to consolidate Wabash w/Southern Railway. In response to the N&W/EL merger. 

1979 - Southern postpones consolidation. 

1980 - Southern & N&W merge (Southern divests in it's ownership of Wabash and W&LE to Thoroughbred System which already owners the Delaware & Hudson.
