About Me

Hello! I'm Md. Hasanur Rahman, a Research Assistant at the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), where I am also pursuing my M.Sc. in Water Resources Development. With a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), my work focuses on addressing critical challenges in water management, climatology, geospatial analysis, remote sensing, multi-hazard assessment, and climate resilience. Passionate about driving innovation, I am deeply involved in projects that contribute to sustainable development and disaster preparedness.

Current Research Updates

Currently simulating historical cyclones and storm surges in the Bay of Bengal (BoB) and analyzing their impacts on the coastal regions of Bangladesh.

Also I am working on developing a PyTorch-driven multimodal model to assess natural disaster impacts through real-time analysis of crowdsourced social media data. The model will integrate NLP to extract key information from text-based posts (e.g., emergency reports, damage descriptions) and image recognition for analyzing visual data (e.g., infrastructure damage, flooding). By combining text and image data, the model will deliver a comprehensive, data-driven assessment of disaster impacts.
