About Rahat Sabyrbekov
I am an environmental economist and policy researcher focused on sustainable development, energy transition, and climate resilience. My work bridges academic research and applied policy, drawing from extensive experience with international organizations such as the World Bank, UNDP, FAO, and OSCE.
Currently, I serve as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University's Davis Center and a Visiting Professor at Justus Liebig University in Germany, where I focus on the intersection of climate change, biodiversity, and policy innovation in low- and middle-income countries.
My academic background spans economics, international political economy, and environmental systems, with degrees from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, University of Birmingham, and Bishkek State University. I have taught and conducted research in the U.S., Europe, and Central Asia, and published in journals such as Energy Strategy Reviews, Transport Policy, and Landscape and Urban Planning.
Fluent in English, Kyrgyz, and Russian, I bring a multicultural, interdisciplinary perspective to the challenges of climate mitigation, carbon pricing, and sustainable policy design.
