Module 0:
Course Introduction
By the end of this module, you will be able to...
... meet your instructor.
... know what to expect from the course.
... understand how to progress through the course.
Task #1: Meet your Instructor
Saaqat?! Whanga aatqa Ayden "Nanuq" Wickman. I am a teacher in Savoonga, Alaska. This course is meant to help you go through the steps to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Air (FAFSA). I grew up in rural Sodus, New York, then earned my bachelor's from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia, then recieved my master's degree from SUNY Brockport. I worked as a middle school math teacher in downtown Rochester, NY before moving with my wife and two cats to Alaska. I currently teach middle school math here on Sivuqaq. In my spare time, I love cooking, playing video games, and making music.

Task #2: How does this work?
The big idea of this course is college readiness for rural Alaskan students. I've broken down this goal into three major topics, called modules. Each module is meant to be completed in order. In each module are chunked pieces of information, called tasks. Each task may require you to read something, watch a video, or complete an assessment. At the end of the course, you'll be asked to complete a post-assessment, which lets me know how much this course helped you.
Task #3: Course Materials and Prior Knowledge
In order for you to be successful in this course, it's helpful to have the following prior skills:
A solid understanding of spoken and written English.
Basic understanding of how to use a computer (using the mouse and keyboard).
An open mind, and knowing that everyone learns at their own pace.
Also, you're going to need the following stuff:
A computer or tablet with internet connectivity (this course wasn't designed for a phone!)
A pair of headphones, if you want your fellow classmates to not hate you.
At least 3 hours set aside for the entire course. Feel free to take breaks in-between tasks and modules, and go ahead and skip stuff you already know.
