No.22 Group provides the qualified and skilled personnel that the RAF needs to carry out operations world-wide. 22 Group has a wide area of interest with responsibilites for many aspects of training.
Provide the Initial Training to RAF Officers and Basic Training for airmen and airwomen
Provide specialist joint training to personnel, mainly in the following areas:
Aeronautical Engineering training
Communications and Information System training
Flying training for all types of aircraft (rotary wing, fast-jet, multi-engine aircraft)
Firearm and Driving training
Officer Commanding 22 Group sits at the head of the organisation as well as occupying the role of Chief of Staff Training for the RAF. The Group is divided in to 6 'sections'/squadrons, each headed by its own Chief Instructor for that particular field of expertise.
