I began the physical work of my project and started with removing the popcorn ceiling. I began by wetting the texture with a heavy coat of water. In the second picture, you can see me using a tool with a trash bag attached that caught all the debris. I eventually decided that this wasn't the best way to do it and switched to a putty knife and trashcan which is not pictured. I also began removing the outlet covers on the ceiling and walls.
I completed the ceiling texture removal process. Here are photos of where I began and I never photographed the finished ceiling immediately after the removal.
This is me removing the old baseboards in the basement. I did this using a crow bar and a putty knife. The putty knife if used to protect the wall and provide a space between the wall and baseboard for the crowbar to get in.
I began my first coat of ceiling paint. I used a primer and paint combo to paint.
I completed the ceiling paint process. Here is the completed ceiling.
I began and completed my first and second coat of wall paint. I used a high quality paint with great coverage. I do not have any photos of me painting, only timelapse videos. Here are photos of the completed wall paint.
I completed the process of staining my crown molding, baseboards, and corner blocks. Here is me staining a piece of crown molding.
I completed the coat of polyurethane finish. Here is me doing that and the final product of the wood.
This was the first day of the installation process for my crown molding. This was also my first time using a table saw. Here is my mentor showing me how it works and me installing the beginning pieces of my crown. I also added me checking for studs.
My mentor and I took on a full day of installing crown molding and baseboards. We completed all baseboards. Here is a photo of the baseboards.
I completed my project! I finished my crown molding, installed a TV, and built my side tables. Here is me doing the crown molding and with my final product with my mentor.
