Two presentations on qualitative research conducted with the Vermont Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Cognitive interviews explored WIC participants' reactions to updated inclusive language in a survey evaluating risk of breastfeeding attrition. I conducted the analysis of transcripts of cognitive interviews, coding and writing up results. Manuscript pending.

Procurement of local food in public institutions has grown rapidly over the past decade due to federal government initiatives. While guides and technical reports exist to support program growth, sharing the stories of schools who begin local food procurement helps paint a picture of the barriers they face and successes they achieve. This project worked with Boston Public Schools to tell their story of increasing local food procurement in their school district.

In this qualitative study, we examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on motivations, decision-making, and food shopping among dollar store shoppers in Fresno, CA and Boston, MA. Eligible participants were ≥18 years old, lived in Boston or Fresno, spoke English or Spanish, and shopped at a dollar store within the past month.
