Issues and Positions

Health and Safety:

Every single student has a right to be safe and respected in public schools. The school board and administration should follow guidance from local, state, and federal health officials and agencies. We should also listen to guidance of child development experts.

Teacher Hiring and Retention:

Teachers are professionals. To guarantee all students a quality K-12 education, we must offer teachers our full support, the time and resources they need to do their jobs well, as well as competitive salary and benefits.

Infrastructure and Sustainability:

As we plan for the future, it is essential that we consider both the financial and environmental impacts of changes we make to our buildings and grounds. The choices we make will have impacts far into the future.

Curriculum:

Students are capable of grappling with difficult subjects! Education must include high standards in core subjects, but it also must prepare our kids to be citizens of the world. That includes hard conversations, and empowering teachers to take that on in the classroom.
