Rabi Subudhi: A True Friend

We meet many persons in our life’s journey. But we like some, love a few, and remember some of the few. But, if you are lucky enough, you come across someone like Dr. Rabi Subudhi, who makes a permanent place in your heart, help you bring your inner potential out, consider your dream as his own and becomes a pilgrim along with you in achieving your dream.

Our friendship is only eleven years old; still to be in its teenage. But as an old adage says ‘we live in deeds, not in years’, our friendship has passed its puberty and reached adolescence.

I first met Prof. Rabi Subudhi in his chamber at KSoM, Bhubaneswar sometime in June 2011. Then I was working as a Branch Manager in Odisha Gramya Bank (erstwhile Baitarani Gramya Bank) in Baripada, I was about to celebrate my 50^th birthday, and had just completed my MBA from ICFAI University. I had a dream of pursuing a Ph D in Management. You might be shouting, “Were you crazy?, doing PhD at the age of 50 with a regular job, is impossible.” Our meeting on that day went for about two hours.

Between 2011 and 2014 I published 12 research articles (some with him as co-author), participated in more than 15 national and international seminars/ workshops/ conferences and successfully defended my doctoral thesis on 27.10.2014. The D-Day came on the 8th day of November, 2014 when I was conferred Doctor of Philosophy in Management by KIIT University.I owe all my success to Prof. Rabi Subudhi.
