Why This and Now?

"Cupertino Rabbits" public art exhibition will build community spirit and promote a common purpose. The cultural context of the Asian Year of the Rabbit aligns well with the Western concepts of rabbits being symbolic of spring, renewal and fertility. We hope that displaying these whimsical animals in our public spaces will inspire a sense of pride and playfulness in our community.

Rotary aspires to be a force for strengthening community bonds through common purpose, and we feel this lighthearted and aesthetically pleasing approach to “decorating our space” is a great way to model that.

The Rotary Club of Cupertino donated the first $10,000 raised by this "Cupertino Rabbits" project to an initiative being organized in Ukraine by fellow Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Santa Clara and the Rotary Club of Kharkiv, Ukraine. That effort will renovate commercial/industrial buildings in Kharkiv to into multi-family housing units for families whose homes were demolished in the war.

Remaining funds will be used for the ongoing charitable projects in our Cupertino regional area.
